MARY J. TREGLIA COMMUNITY HOUSE NAMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Sioux City, IA, September 8, 2016– The Mary J. Treglia Community House is pleased to announce Amy Chabra as its new executive director. Continuing a 95 year legacy of education, service, and advocacy for immigrants to Siouxland, MJTCH welcomes Ms. Chabra’s leadership on behalf of our newest community members.
Amy attended Brooklyn Law School, the Masters of Arts Program at the University of Chicago and Framingham State University. In addition, she was awarded a prestigious McNair Scholarship to study at Brandeis University. As an
AmericorpsVISTA she began an after-school program in Buffalo and also founded the Brooklyn Chapter of Unemployment Action Center. Amy is a South Dakota native, who will put her considerable skills and talents to work for the sake of Mary Treglia’s mission to serve and empower new Americans and their families.
In honor of Citizenship Day and in celebration of Ms. Chabra’s appointment to executive director, MJTCH will host an open house for the community on Friday, September 16th from 1pm to 6pm. Come and enjoy coffee, tea, and snacks while you meet the staff, learn more about Mary Treglia’s mission, and help welcome Amy Chabra to her new role as executive director.
Mary J. Treglia Community House, located at 900 Jennings St, in Sioux City, believes that cultural diversity strengthens our community. It strives to identify and respond to the needs of the immigrant population in Siouxland through education, services, advocacy, and celebration of diversity. Through these efforts, MJTCH makes possible the self-sufficiency and empowerment of the individual.
