VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE (VITA)
The Mary Treglia Community House partners with the United Way of Siouxland
and the Center for Siouxland each tax season to reach out to area taxpayers who might qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). This credit is for people who have some source of earned income (such as from a job, even if part-time), but are still struggling to make ends meet.*
Our goal is to educate the community on the EITC so that more qualifying families will receive their refund. We also include financial literacy education as part of the program so that families will use their refund to stabilize their financial situation by saving, paying down debt, or making smart purchases.
To see if you qualify and to make an appointment, call (712) 252-1861.
* The IRS has established maximum income guidelines based on household size and total household income. Whether an individual qualifies for the EITC cannot be determined without a consultation.
