The Mary J. Treglia Community House (“MJTCH”) Board of Directors (“Board”) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Executive Director. MJTCH (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) has served immigrants in the Siouxland area for almost 100 years. Located at 900 Jennings Street, Sioux City, Iowa, the mission of MJTCH is to welcome, empower, educate and advocate for new Siouxland families. MJTCH envisions a vital and diverse Siouxland community of self-sufficient, responsible and engaged residents.   Description Under the guidance and authority of the Board, the Executive Director is responsible for overseeing operations and leading staff, marketing / public relations, grant and financial management, and fundraising for the MJTCH. This is a full-time position.   Primary Duties
  • Develop and cultivate partnerships with area organizations, specifically the United Way of Siouxland and its partner agencies, as well as other nonprofit and governmental agencies, grantors, donors, and others that can help advance the mission of the MJTCH.
  • Handle all aspects of human resource management, including hiring / termination, developing position descriptions and expectations, setting compensation for all team members, and applying Board-approved employee policies and benefits in accordance with federal and state requirements.
  • Work with the Board to develop and implement current and long-term organizational goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the MJTCH operations.
  • Work with the Board and its committees to meet strategic goals identified in the approved / adopted strategic plan. This includes reporting progress on identified metrics, providing organizational support for accomplishing logistical tasks, and helping to clearly identify roles/responsibilities for all collaborative efforts.
  • Identify, research, and write grant proposals.
  • Manage grant and donor funds to ensure fulfillment of agreements as required, including submitting reports accurately and timely, ensuring appropriate receipt and disbursement of funds, and ensuring donor recognition.
  • Oversee all accounting functions including those necessary for reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, capital asset and property management, and payroll in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Board policies and procedures, and all other applicable rules and guidelines.
  • Research, comprehend, and apply laws and procedures that pertain to MJTCH’s obligation to serve clients competently and ethically. This includes an understanding of the legal ethics for interpreters, DOJ representatives, attorneys, and teachers; adhering to child care guidelines established by the Iowa Department of Human Services; and following all local, state and federal employment laws.
  Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in a nonprofit role.
  • Management experience in a small or medium-sized organization. This includes responsibility for hiring, retention and termination in addition to experience in performing both formal and informal team member evaluations.
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by successful project management, including planning and execution. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
